Tim takes Angel out to dinner and tries to coerce her into going
to Isreal with him. She begs off in respect to her current
responsibilities in Berkeley and we see again how Tim is never
*in* the moment -- his mind is always roaming to the next
insight/argument/plan/mind-game. He leaves and, of course,
dies in the desert with his gas station map and two sodas.
Taking us to the present and Angel's crushed soul.

Chapter 12 fades back to Barefoot's boat where Bill has been
in the back of the room. Bill isn't merely a bodhisattva, but
Tim's soul returned to life.

The book is wrapping up! I do love the way PKD framed the story
like an actual memior where Angel always tosses out big spoilers
and the rough outline of the tale is visible from the start
similar Shakespeare's tragedies -- thus it's not the plot per se
that comes to the front, but what it does to the characters.
