This may be an artifact of time zones: you'd have to be in California in 
order to be able to go to a seminar on a houseboat in daylight with the
knowledge that John Lennon had been killed... unless my memory is playing
old-age tricks, I seem to recollect that the murder took place late in the
afternoon.
