Lots going on around town on the restaurant scene lately: Last month, the owners of Inman Park's Patio restaurant packed up and moved to Tuscany in Italy. No word on new leasee's for that corner storefront. Also last month, Thumb's Up Diner on Edgewood added a second dining room, almost doubling their number of tables. But the line is still pretty long for weekend brunch; those days I recommend getting in there close to their 8am opening time. Ted Turner & Longhorn founder George McKerrow are planning a new restaurant chain tentatively called "Ted's Montana Grill" which may make it's first appearance at a spot across the street from downtown's Tabernacle currently home to yet another one of Fairlie-Poplar's boring surface parking lots. http://atlanta.bcentral.com/atlanta/stories/2001/10/15/newscolumn6.html Hooters says they're opening a new location in the currently vacant storefront at the south-east corner of Peachtree and International. Will that mean the end of the Underground location? This is a really attractive building, gee I wonder what will go in kitty-corner from there in the old Planet Hollywood spot? A strip club? Hmmm Angelo & Maxie's across from Equifax in midtown is closed. Never had a chance to go there, but I knew a couple people renting humidor space. http://atlanta.bcentral.com/atlanta/stories/2001/12/10/newscolumn7.html A Biltmore District? The owners of the Biltmore are getting pretty agressive leasing out space. First was the Fountainhead owners opening the swanky Halo bar and they just announced a new restaurant will be opening there soon. Did this all start with Thad & Joe's? Near CNN Center There's supposed to be a new Mexican place where Reggie's used to be called "Don Juans" with a patio on Techwood and the corner spot is now supposed to be a McCormick and Schmick's http://www.mccormickandschmicks.com/
